Pill Aversion

Most of us have come across someone who either does not like to or cannot swallow tablets. This may include parents who have trouble getting their child to take his or her daily vitamins and/or health supplements. Güdpods Functional Beverage Pods address swallowing difficulties by providing people with a tasty, safe, and quick solution, offering the same great taste every time. For optimized care, our pods are an ideal choice.

Today tablets and capsules are the most commonly used methods for vitamins, minerals, supplements, and prescriptions, as they are relatively cheap to mass-produce. They do not include water, which can increase the degradation of valuable active ingredients. In most cases, they are coated to change the absorption characteristics of tablets and capsules.

Even though they are usually convenient for the consumer to take and carry with them, it creates a problem for people with the inability to swallow tablets and capsules. Making matters worse is that the health and wellness, and nutraceutical and pharmaceutical companies offer limited alternatives.

Swallowing difficulties can come from either psychological aversion, which can happen at any age, or from dysphagia, which is a physical impairment in the swallowing process. For example, dysphagia can be acute in patients with a sore throat or those with an exacerbation of gastro-esophageal reflux disease, in patients who have experienced a stroke, patients with Parkinson’s disease or Huntingdon’s chorea, and those with muscular dystrophy.

At least one form of swallowing difficulty is believed to be found between 70 and 90 percent of the elderly. This can result from a reduction in the production of saliva and weakening of the muscles involved in swallowing.

Patients with oral or esophageal cancer commonly report difficulties in swallowing. With the relatively high prevalence of dysphagia in the elderly and its presence in patients with chronic disabling conditions, it is not surprising that the extent of dysphagia has been found to be approximately 15 percent in general care homes for seniors and up to 30 percent in hospices. The Multiple Sclerosis Society states that between 30 and 40 percent of people with multiple sclerosis experience difficulties with swallowing at some time.

“Smoothies [with essential vitamins, minerals, fiber, and antioxidants] may reduce inflammation, improve digestion, and lower your risk of chronic conditions like heart disease, osteoporosis, obesity, and age-related mental decline.”— Fruit and Vegetable Intake: Benefits and Progress of Nutrition Education Interventions, PubMed

The two main concerns with dysphagia are aspiration and choking. In aspiration, the patient has lost the ability to synchronize the closure of the epiglottis and, consequently, foods or liquids pass into the lungs, which have minimal defense systems against boluses containing bacteria. Repeated aspiration of foods and liquids is believed to be associated with pneumonia. If these symptoms occur over the long term, it can cause dehydration and malnutrition.

Güdpod Functional Beverage single-serve Pod options can provide full liquid diet options when having difficulty swallowing or chewing or when preparing for a test or medical procedure, or when recovering from surgery. “Smoothies are one way to get the nutrients your body uses to fight the disease and handle the effects of treatment. Smoothies are a good option if your treatment gives you side effects. Smoothies are also cold, which can soothe a sore mouth and throat. Convenience vs. Health

For many people, healthy eating has always been less accessible than unhealthy junk food. Individual supplements targeting individual health concerns can lead to confusion, frustration and an overall bad experience.

Moreover, concocting healthy beverages from scratch requires equipment and all the ingredients…tubs of nutritional supplements, a blender, a drinking glass, and a lot of clean-up! This labour-intensive process becomes repetitious drudgery quickly while yielding inconsistent taste profiles and eating up a great deal of time. The fact is convenience often trumps health for many of us. The good news here is that Gudpod provides you with both – health and convenience!

Our reliance on fast food also stems from our need for quick and easy solutions. Making home-cooked meals every day and washing the dishes is a burden! Isn’t it easier to just order in? We’re all guilty of this, especially amidst our fast-paced lives.

The Nutrients Your Body Lacks but Needs

Nutrients are essential to a balanced diet, such as iron, iodine, vitamin D, vitamin B12, calcium, vitamin A, and magnesium. We lack most of them and need to replenish our bodies with foods and supplements that contain them. However, having a pill aversion may impact the supplements option. Güdpod offers many Functional Beverage options that are nutrient-rich, gluten-free beverages that can become part of your daily routine and increase your daily intake of the essential vitamins and minerals you need to thrive.

A Single, Fulfilling Click Prepares Nutritional Beverages

Your pill aversion should not stop you from living a healthy life, your best life. Not having the necessary nutrients, may reduce your defense mechanism. Your immune system has no wall of protection, keeping you safe from various illnesses and diseases.

Vitamins and minerals can help fortify this wall. You need your daily dose of nutrients, and if you cannot get them from supplements and food, you can get them through our Functional Beverages. We have designed our Güdpod technology and beverages while keeping you in mind.

Our Güdpod mixing system works with our one-time use, 100% recyclable Functional Beverage Pods that make preparing your nutrient-rich beverage easy and fast. In less than 60 seconds, our Functional Beverages will provide you with a delicious serving of our nutrition. We have removed all threats of cross-contamination by ensuring that no part of our single-serve pod encounters our machine’s moving mechanical components, avoiding all contamination. This also eliminates the need to clean the machine even after using it several times.

Your healthy alternative to taking supplements starts with picking a pod, selecting your preferred base such as almond milk, coconut milk, soy milk or water and pressing “play.”

A growing challenge exists in the design & material selection of single-serve packaging. Primary design features of single-serve portion packs (SSPPs) emphasize the convenience and portability they provide as they are typically small in size and even in large quantity occupy minimal space. They easily store in cabinets or drawers.
